Description

Rotoehu Ecological Trust is a small community conservation group looking after a patch of native forest in the Bay of Plenty. Rotoehu Forest is home to a population of North Island Kokako (~150 birds). RET see the kokako as a keystone species for the forest, working on the principle that anything done to protect or enhance the kokako's habitat will have beneficial flow-on effects for all of the other native species (robin, falcon, riflemen, whitehead, bellbirds, grey warbler etc). Most of the work we carry out is pest control related (trapping, poisoning or weed control). For more information visit our website kokako.kiwi.
